Import Mysql File Using Command LIne

Import mysql file using command line on Linux needs several steps.

Step 1: Upload mysql file to server

You can use either ftp or scp to upload mysql file. 


Step 2: Login to server

 Login to server using ssh application. Example your website domain is pratama.us and username is demby. Type this command to login to your server. 

ssh demby@pratama.us

You can change demby to your username and pratama.us to your domain or ip address.

Step 3: Import Mysql File

To import your mysql file to database you can use command below:

mysql -u USERNAME -p -h HOSTNAME DATABASENAME < FILENAME

Example if your mysql USERNAME is demby,  HOSTNAME is localhost, DATABASENAME is dembydb and FILENAME is dembydb.sql, type this command to import.

mysql -u demby -p -h localhost dembydb < dembydb.sql

If you using ip address or domain as your hostname then your command become:

 mysql -u demby -p -h 118.1.1.1 dembydb < dembydb.sql
or

mysql -u demby -p -h demby.pratama.us dembydb < dembydb.sql

After that, you can check your database and browse the data. This article is to remind me how to import mysql file to database using command line.

Centos 5 Live CD, Rescue CD or Workstation

Have you ever try CENTos 5 Live CD? I had tried it. This Centos 5 Live Cd can be use as rescue cd and workstation cause it based on CentOS 5.0 i386 distribution. Ubuntu “GNOME Settings Daemon”

Then it shows a error on not loading gnome-settings-deamon. “There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon . Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. And last error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.” Then i search using search engine for the solution. After search for a several times and open some websites, i found 2 solution. 1. add two line in file /etc/network/interfaces: auto lo iface lo inet loopback and commenting out all entries with IPv6 then type sudo ifup lo on terminal and reboot linux box (ubuntu 7.04/feisty fawn) 2.
